The Arc New York and CP State hosted the 15th Annual Compliance and Quality Connections Conference on May 2.

  • CONNECT AND LEAD: HOW TO OVERCOME RISK AVERSION AND EMBRACE THE RISKS YOUR MISSION REQUIRES; KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Melanie Lockwood-Herman, Executive Director at the Nonprofit Risk Management Center, explored risk and risk leadership through the lens of an avowed risk enthusiast. Melanie helped us understand why risk aversion leads us to miss opportunities to innovate, learn, and grow. She explained how to capably manage the most concerning risks we face so we can embrace the risks we must take to help everyone we support and serve realize their potential.   • PANEL DISCUSSION – STAFFING CHALLENGES’ IMPACT ON RISK MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES: Staff representatives from agencies across NYS presented their "best practice" for risk management activities in a time of extreme staffing challenges. Each panelist's presentation can be viewed here.
  • COMPLIANCE PROGRAM REGULATIONS: AN OVERVIEW OF THE RECENT CHANGES: Paul F. Mayer, Executive Vice President at The Bonadio Group provided an overview of the recent Compliance Program regulations finalized 12/28/2022. Some of the key changes in the regulations were discussed, as well as what your organization should have implemented so far, and areas of focus going forward.
